Life After COVID Vaccination- The Latest Guidelines

It has been two weeks since your second (or single) COVID vaccine shot. You fling open the door and walk out into the world ready to live a pre-pandemic life. Is that possible?

That depends on where you are, what you want to do, and whether there are enough people that have also been fully vaccinated.

Life After COVID Vaccination - The Latest Guidelines

If you among the 40% of fully vaccinated Missouri residents, you have the blessing of the CDC to get back to living. Here is what the CDC recommends as of June 17, 2021: “If you are fully vaccinated, you can resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic. Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.”

Local businesses and municipalities may still have certain COVID restrictions in place, regardless of your vaccination status. St. Louis City, St. Louis County and surrounding counties no longer require masks for fully vaccinated individuals. Many personal service providers including beauty salons and spas still require masks of their customers. The majority of businesses also require their employees to remain masked at work. Nationwide, you still have to wear a mask on a plane, train and other methods of mass transportation.

COVID vaccines are quickly becoming required for many employers. Healthcare providers, school districts, college and universities, and major retailers are just some organizations that are giving their workers a deadline to obtain a vaccine. COVID vaccinations are available for anyone in the United States 12 years of age or older.

The World Health Organization says we are now in month 15 of the COVID pandemic, and its end will be gradual and less noticeable than the start of the pandemic in March 2020. All experts still urge patience and encourage responsible actions such as hand washing and covering your face when you sneeze or cough. Most importantly, they recommend getting your vaccine if you have not yet done so.
